Me Made May '14 Giveaway #2

*Competition is now closed*

Okay guys, here it is, giveaway number Two for Me Made May '14!

Caitlan at Indie Stitches is generously giving away one pattern of the winners choice with shipping included for anywhere in the world. Woohoo!

Indie Stitches has such a lovely selection of patterns all by independent designers. In fact, after reading her post on the Lola dress,  I'm thinking one wouldn't go amiss round these parts (especially considering my last post!).

She has also just started stocking Thread Theory, and I've promised David a Newcastle Cardigan (can you believe it'll be the first thing I've ever made him? I'm such a mean and selfish sewer!!).

To enter to win, head on over to Indie Stitches, peruse her wares and then let me know in the comments which pattern you'd choose.

The giveaway is open to everyone, not just #MMM14 participants, and closes in a week at 12am Thursday 15 May 2014 (NZ time!).

So, what's missing in your handmade wardrobe that you think could be solved with an Indie Stitches pattern?

  1. Hi Jen

Easy answer - the Violet blouse by Colette! I have had my eye on that for ages!

I also really like Cautlan's shop - have bought from there a few times and have been really pleased with the quick delivery and how helpful Caitlan is!

  2. Oh lovely giveaway! I'd definitely choose the Newcastle Cardigan. There's a lot of cute stuff I'd love to make, but I have the perfect sweater knit for Newcastle in my stash. :)

  3. Hooray! Thanks for hosting this giveaway. You didn't specify, but I assume the giveaway is open to non-NZ residents? If it is... well, Indie Stitches has a lot of cool stuff to choose from, but I think the most appealing pattern to me is the Victory Nicolai dress (though perhaps without the sheer top)!

  11. Wow, just one! I'd totally been planning to buy several of these from each individual pattern company, and you show me this website that has them all plus free shipping to Australia? My bank account does not like you. So, taking into account what I plan on buying later today when my pay cheque comes through, that leaves the Sewaholic Cambie dress as my answer!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'd choose the Emery Dress by Christine Haynes! I've been wanting a copy for ages and ages, it's just so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm dying over all of the Anna dresses I've seen, but I also love the Cambie dress, and the Gabriola maxi, and and and...

  16. Yay, thank you for the giveaway opportunity, Indie Stitches! There are so many indie patterns I would love, but right now, I'd have to choose By Hand London's Flora. I just got a silk from Mood that I think would make a great Flora!

    ReplyDelete
  18. OOOHHH!!! A giveaway I can enter! I would either get the Gabriola Skirt Sewing Pattern (hopefully it would get back in stock in time!), the Renfrew top, or one of the Collette or Victory patterns!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  45. I difficult choose, I think The Date Night Dress & Simple Slip but Flora and Hazel are in the competition, But sense summer is coming soon I hope it's currently 8 degrees and raining with is warm compared with 2 days ago when it was 2 degrees and poring but at least it's better her then in Stockholm where it snowed or slaskade as we cal it when you can't tell if its rain or snow.
And about making think for your significant other, I have only made Peter 1 cardigan,1 hat, 1 pari of mittens with he doesn't use, 1 pair of socks and most recently a linen shirt that is used about twice a year. and that is in almost 5 years and only because I like to make think as gifts every now and then. That's about once in a year and during a year I make about 36 items for me (that the number of documented project for me 2013). So don't feel bad about selfish crafting, if's a different feeling to make for other and sense you create because you enjoy it not for a living your not so-pose to make thing the you don't enjoy. If you enjoy giving the do it but if not there is no obligation. I have a few people that I make thing for that I now will love and care for the item I make for them. People that value handmade and will hand-wash even if I say that the hand knitted baby garment is machine-washable to be on the safe side. These may not be my closest friends but they respect the craftsmanship and material.

    ReplyDelete
  48. One thing MMM has made me realise is, that while I sew lots of things for other people, I really don't sew much for myself! As such I'd be selfish and pick the negron shirt...yup!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Amazing giveaway! I would definitely have to choose the Cambie Dress. I know! I'm so behind the times, but alas, most of my money goes to schooling. Thank you so much for hosting this wonderful giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oooh, the choices! I think it'd have to be the Minoru jacket but it was tough! xox

    ReplyDelete
  89. Not to be a copy cat but it would be the Lola for me to - I've wanted that pattern for ages...as we are in Spring in the UK its not technically "season appropriate" but knowing our english summers I would definitely get some wear out of it over the spring/summer months...for example its 9 degrees celcius today and raining in the North!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. I would love to sew Roxanne by Victory patterns, the collar pleating is just perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  117. There a million options that I'd love to make from her stock... but right now I think I'm crushing on the Washi from Made by Rae!

    ReplyDelete
  118. So tough to choose. It's gotta be either by Hand London's Anna dress or Sewaholic's Thurlow trousers. It might be time to take that huge leap and try pants! (cue ominous music)

    ReplyDelete
  119. Think I'm the only person who hasn't made the Washi dress! I'd love that pattern.

    ReplyDelete

    Annie
    http://enantiomerproject.blogspot.com/

    ReplyDelete
  121. Right to the end of the alphabet - I'd choose the Zinnia skirt. Recently I picked out of the wardrobe a skirt I hadn't worn in ages, a Laura Ashley turquoise corduroy number I bought in a charity shop and shortened to above knee length. I can't believe I let it lie for so long - it makes me feel *exactly like me*, if you know what I mean. Like the best version of myself and all's right with the world. So I was thinking: must find a pattern to make more of these (this is the best thing about being a sewer! realising what's right for you, and then actually going to get it!) And the Zinnia version 2 is EXACTLY what I've been after; waisted, pleated, with belt loops. Magic!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I think I'd opt for the Negroni pattern, to treat my hubbie to something handmade.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I would love the By Hand London Charlotte Skirt - I've been dreaming of an Anna-Lotte hack for months... Thanks for the excellent giveaway!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  126. This is my first year doing me made may and I'm in dire need of some quick makes! So many of these patterns are on my wish list, but the top one I've been eyeing is Laurel by Colette!
    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks for the giveaway! I'd have to flip a coin between the Chloe Dress by Victory Patterns, or the Sewaholic Minoru. Don't feel bad about selfish sewing - it's hard to be selfless when there's SO MANY gorgeous things to make for oneself ;)

    ReplyDelete
  128. Not a lot of choice in my size range, but I do like the Pavlova Wrap Top and Skirt pattern.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  134. I'd go for the Goldstream Peacoat by Thread Theory. I've been admiring this jacket for a while and, as I've only made hubby one thing since I've been sewing I think the time has probably come for some selfish sewing. Good luck everyone

    ReplyDelete
  135. Hello Jennifer! This is my first year doing MMMay and I must say I'm absolutely loving it, its great fun & I have found SO many new blogs and patterns that I didn't know were out there...and I've been quite surprised at how many of my clothes I do make myself. I'm just not prioritising my self made gear, probably because I'm deep down intimidated by shop bought fashion, like its 'better/more important'. Its like being tricked really, by the glamour of retail; clothing that's perceived as validated by $$ and association. This is mad and totally not true, just a marketing thing. I am beginning to see that the clothes I make myself more accurately portray me as me & they are something to be proud of. A really interesting notion that I've come to only over the last week. Yay for MMM14!
However…back on topic. I wasn't aware of Victory Patterns before now & I really like them; the Anouk would be my (tough!) choice though. Its simple but unusual and can be customised endlessly really. That, for me, is a great pattern, I like variety and value!
Sorry to go on & on but thank you Jen for hosting me!
    Best wishes. Rosie. www.artworkerprojects.com

  140. I think I'd pick the Colette Hawthorn dress... I love the silhouette, but so far I have been too afraid of all those buttonholes!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ava by Victory to go with my lovely Roxanne. Wanna give that Cooper bay a try too.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I'd love the Date Night Dress. Thank you for the giveaway!

  144. Hmm... So many pretty patterns. I think I would probably choose the Macaron by Colette, I think it would go nice with all the crazy prints I can find here.

  145. I already knew what I would answer before checking out their website (but of course I did anyway, it's great!), I have to have a Sewaholic Cambie dress! I'm probably about the only one who doesn't have the pattern, and I feel like my closet needs it! I'm a sucker for dresses, and I'm in need of a new happy Spring dress and that Cambie is just perfect.... Thanks for the giveaway!

  146. the necessity of my wardrobe is a pair of Juniper trousers by Colette (I need them to go to work by bike), but I like too the Madeleine skirt by Victory with suspenders and probably I'll buy before the cute pattern of the skirt and then the more useful pattern of the pants!

  147. On the top of my pattern wishlist is By Hand London's Anna dress, so I have to choose that one! :)

  148. So many options! I would have to go with Sewaholics Lonsdale dress. I always need more dresses! Most of my summer clothing are not me made right now and I have pretty much every pattern needed to fix everything but dresses.

  160. I would definitely Emery by Christine Haynes, I'm hoping it will be the perfect everyday dress, chuck over some tights and a lux slip, add a cardigan + jacket + cute hat + current favorite shoes (depending on the whether) and away you go!

  161. I'd go for the Lola dress too! It's been on my to-sew list for too long, I need to hurry up and make it for this winter!

  163. It made me smile when I saw which patterns you picked to illustrate your post: I've been considering getting the Lola dress (maybe next autumn?) and although I have made no promise, I showed the newcastle cardigan pattern to my husband because I thought he'd like it and he did, so I also plan to make one in the future. ^^
Thank you very much for this giveaway! They have many really nice patterns that I want to try, it's hard to choose. If Moneta comes back in stock I'll choose this one, it's elegant and comfortable, sounds perfect! I definitely want to try it. It not... the Madeleine skirt as I've been eyeing it for a long time.

  167. How lovely of you, to host an indie giveaway! Personally, I'd gladly take the Roxanne dress pattern home ;)

  168. There are some designers on the Indie Stitches site I hadn't heard of.
I wear dresses and skirts a lot and I have seen some great variations of the Flora dress as well as the Flora skirt alone. Versatility is wonderful.
Thank you for promoting indie patterns and hosting such a great giveaway.

  174. I love the Robson Coat by Sewaholic patterns! So gorgeous, and I don't have a trenchcoat. Would be great for this dreary spring weather.

  175. Yay these Me-made-may giveaways are so fun! I would have to go with the latest By Hand London dress, the Flora. I've become obsessed with circle skirts lately and the pleats might just be the most genius thing I've ever seen!
