I'm sure it's not a surprise to find out that I really like simple outfits - a pretty dress, cute shoes and a belt to top it off. I don’t tend to accessorise my outits much and if I am accessorising then most of the time it’s a bag or when it’s colder, a scarf. Lately though, I’ve been drawn to long layered necklaces and dangly earrings – I’ve been noticing how much they complete outfits on other people and I’m going to experiment!
I own jewellery, but mostly dainty pieces like my little pinecone necklace, and while I’ll always be a dainty jewellery kind of girl, I’m feeling the need for long strands of beads, bracelets and sparkly brooches. This is the necklace I snapped up at the market on Saturday last week. It is long and copper coloured with coral beads adorning the strand at various intervals and to top off the accessories in this outfit, I even wore my straw hat that I’ve been neglecting ever since I bought it at the beginning of summer (sorry for the semi blurry photos though, it was getting late when we took these and the wind was picking up as well as the rain!).
Wearing jewellery is something I really don’t think about most of the time and when I’m running out the door in the morning, all I’m worried about is that I’m actually dressed. So, I'll need to:
a) remember to put it on before running out the door
b) not fidget with it
and
c) try and get used to putting it on when it's cold in the mornings (I hate putting cold jewellery on on cold mornings!).
So what about you? Are you a skilled accessoriser or do you prefer to keep it simple?

Major accessory grrl here. I love pairing earrings and necklaces with my outfits. I'm not as big on bracelets. But as the child gets older, I'm. Sure that will change.
ReplyDeleteAg - I am also pretty aweful at accessorizing. But this necklace and your hat look wonderful! Can you wear this sort of look to work?
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is so pretty! And the coral beads pop just right :)
ReplyDeleteAccessory wise I feel like I wear way too much, but hey looking like a drag queen can be fun sometimes too ! Haha
I am exactly the same as you but lately I have been getting more and more into accessories. I own lots of jewelry and hats but never wear them. A little while ago a bought an adorable brooch at the markets and ever since then I have been adding more accessories to my outfits. I have also been experimenting with different hairstyles which is fun.

ReplyDeleteLove your hat.
ReplyDeleteAs you have probably spotted, I have a tendency to pile on the accessories. I normally have to follow the Chanel advice and remove the last item to stop myself looking like I'm a Christmas tree.
I think I'm the opposite... I love accessories but my outfits are usually pretty lame :(. Your outfit in the post is so cute, and I love the hint of coral from the necklace!
ReplyDeleteI adore this outfit; the skirt and necklace are so beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI've become more of an accessories-girl recently. Mostly because I've started to realize that it really expands the possibilities of my closet! Up until a few years ago though, I never had anything really along the lines of a "statement" piece or very colorful. It's taken me a bit to figure out my style when it comes to jewelry and other accessories, but I have to say it's been a lot of fun now that I have! ;)

Love your skirt, such a great print and length
ReplyDeleteI'm an accessories girl, the easiest and cheapest way to update any wardrobe

I love accessories like necklaces and earrings, but I am most definitely not good at accessorizing ;) I often forget to put on more that earrings and tend to own easy things to pair with outfits so I don't have to think about it too much.
