Happy Mothers Day!
How have you gone with your Me Made pledges this week?
Personally, I have no idea where this past week has gone. I've been trying to keep up with daily photos, but it's not going as smoothly as planned. Trying to work around a little person is certainly proving to have it's challenges and while I have worn handmade everyday (and do most days), documenting it has been so much harder than I thought it would be. But let's talk about fun sewing things now shall we?
Today is the start of the second competition of the month! Miss Maude is New Zealand's premier online retailer of indie sewing patterns, gorgeous fabrics and beautiful haberdashery.
Emma has picked out an amazing selection of tid bits for you to win - everything you see in the photo above (as well as a few other goodies!). Trims measure between 1-2m and the prize is worth over $120! Wow!!
All you have to do to enter is head over to her shop and leave a comment on this post telling us what your favourite haberdashery item is that she stocks.
I, naturally, went straight to the buttons and found these and these! And then I found the most beautiful wrist pin cushion I have ever laid eyes on (insert heart eyes emoji!).
So, er, good luck choosing! Competition ends this time next week.

Thanks for the giveaway! I love the shell buttons that you linked to, as well as some of her other printed shell buttons and the magnetic wrist pincushion. I also love both your shift dresses!
ReplyDeleteThe tulip head pins are super cute. Thanks for the opportunity
ReplyDeleteI love the selection of elastic, but particularly the lurex elastic. Tanya
ReplyDeleteThere was seriously 15 items that I *needed* to have!! I settled on these:
ReplyDeletehttp://stillstandingmag.com/2016/05/22102/
because I've always wanted a pair of pinking shears, and its better to get a high quality pair right at the start! ☺
I'm not doing me-made May though I am wearing hand made most days for my socks if nothing else! I had a wee peruse of her website and there are so many lovely things, started with the ribbons and then as you suggested looked at the buttons, how to choose?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p79/Shell_Buttons_-_Enamelled%2C_Off_White_and_Blue.html is the one I fell for most though.
She has a lovely selection! I love the Shell Buttons - Tree of Hearts.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so nice! The Tulip Cellulose-Head Pins are my favourite practical and pretty
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a silicone thimble before but it looks so useful for people like me who struggle to keep the metal ones on their fingers. The magnetic pincushion looks pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteI love the wide pink and white striped elastic she has- lovely and unique!
ReplyDeleteI loooove the selection of buttons, too! My favorite are the London shell buttons and the vintage flower buttons, especially in red. They would go so well with the Hawthorn dress I'm working on at the moment...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection. I think I need the Merchant and Mills buttonhole scissors. Or any other scissors. They are lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful haberdashery selection; I loved the vintage buttons. Extremely hard to find just one favourite but the Merchant and Mills bodkin and threader would be very useful, as would the Tulip quilting pins. Thanks for the chance to win.

That is a lovely mustard skirt. I LOVE that colour. Best habit has to those wee Tulip pins with the heads like leaves. They are so, so cute. Xx
ReplyDeleteThis is tough but i would say elastic or zips
ReplyDeleteThey have a great selection! I love the bohin wrist magnetic pin holder, it is sooo cute and useful. Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteSome lovely me makes. I love the pink shift dress. I have worn something me made everyday, but as for blogging or instagramming it. It just hasn't happened.
ReplyDeleteHow does one choose a single item out of all the goodness??!! I do love the Poppy and Daisy fabric buttons!
ReplyDeleteI love all the Merchant & Mills scissors! The vintage buttons are so pretty too!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty sad, I know, but I'm such a sucker for ric rac! So my favourite is the vintage royal blue ric rac. Some of those buttons are very pretty too :-)
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I'd never heard of Miss Maude until this week when I came across the shop twice! I love all of the vintage buttons, but especially the Black with Gold vintage glass buttons - they're stunning.
ReplyDeleteLove your choices for Me Made May! I love the Vintage English Flower buttons in Rose Pink- they remind me of some on my clothing when I was wee :)
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely things but I am all about scissors at the moment.. Love the 10" Merchant and Mills scissors, I'm sure they would make cutting out fabric a dream!
ReplyDeleteEntering on behalf of Virginia who couldn't leave a comment because my blog was being silly... :(
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are these: http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p79/Shell_Buttons_-_Enamelled%2C_Off_White_and_Blue.html (the same as you I realised afterward!), http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p171/Vintage_Graphic_Buttons_-_Black_.html, and http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p227/Bohin_Wrist_Magnetic_Pin_Holder.html
Very cool website!
Thanks

I love the selection of buttons - my favorites are the blue and white ones you linked to, and the Liberty fabric covered ones.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I *love* the magnetic version of the wrist pin cushion, the vintage glass shell shaped buttons, and the wide navy-and-white striped elastic... I think I'd better stop looking now, or I'll spend a few paychecks accidentally!
ReplyDeleteI love the Up up and away shell buttons, and I'm with you on the wrist pincushion - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - I especially love the wide elastic, it would look great as a skirt waistband
ReplyDeleteI love the Paris pink and white striped elastic; the color is absolutely so bright and gorgeous! I have a soft spot for beautiful elastics.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, soooo many pretty things. I think I "need" some of the London shell buttons!
ReplyDeleteThe up up and away buttons are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the retractable measuring tapes, but my favorite are the powder blue petunia buttons.
ReplyDeleteOoh great giveaway - I do love me a covered button so these Liberty ones are my favshttp://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p48/Liberty_Fabric_Buttons_-_Boxed_Set%2C_Poppy_%26_Daisy.html
ReplyDeletebut I'm also tempted by the tulip pins!
I love the wrist pin cushion! is there a more useful item in the world?

So many beautiful things! I love the black and white peony buttons so so much.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on photographs this year! I am keeping a list of what I wear and why I wore it. I figure it will be a good way to gather data without all the stress.
ReplyDeleteI am loving those Afternoon dresses!
I love that magnetised pin cushion, oh and the vintage buttons, and the scissors. I think I need to go shopping!
ReplyDeleteThe candy ribbon and Anchors Away button set are lovely!
ReplyDeleteNicole
These vintage wooden buttons with blue flowers! Oh so pretty!! http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p208/Vintage_French_Wooden_Buttons.html
ReplyDeleteSome day I will have enough money to get a Bohin Professional pinking sheers, it would help my sewing so much!
ReplyDeleteOh those 50s red vintage buttons.
ReplyDeleteAll those buttons!!! And the baby bow scissors - adorable! ✂️
ReplyDeleteAll those Merchant and Mill scissors are drool worthy, but I've got my eye on the Tulip Sashiko needles 😜
ReplyDeleteHi, I really covet a sewing gauge, to get perfectly even seams.
ReplyDeleteI love the Entomology pins. They are so pretty in a utilitarian way
ReplyDeleteI like the cotton tapes, especially the japanese denim one
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway! It was a hard choice, but the very first thing that caught my eye was the striped elastic, and I think that has to be my favorite. Especially the teal!
ReplyDeleteOooooooolala! What gorgeous and unique notions and embellishments! Lovin all scissors and shears. (Reddish handle!) and that yummy Japanese Denim tape!!
ReplyDeleteI love those bright colored silicone thimbles! Maybe I would lose mine less if I had one of those...
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the vintage flower buttons!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, the buttons! http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p346/Vintage_Flower_Buttons_-_Black_18mm.html I love these ones, but also the printed cotton tapes are lovely! Thanks for the chance to win such a nice giveaway from such a well curated shop!
ReplyDeleteI really love those wrist pin cushions and the vintage French wooden buttons. All so pretty! Great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWow. That yellow skirt is outstanding! What a striking color and it suits you so well. After spending what was most likely entirely too much time drooling over the items in the hab I think I am most taken with a few different things. I liked the striped elastic a lot, and I'd never seen anything but solid elastic before. I also will have to think about getting one of those bamboo point turners. All I've encountered were plastic, which I dislike. And lastly, those adorable buttons--the ones with ducks and the ones with hot air balloons. There was so much to like in that shop.
ReplyDeleteOoh, lovely giveaway! It's so hard to choose a favorite, but I like the red vintage buttons.
ReplyDeleteI really like the 50mm wide elastics, my favourite is the Gold rush pinstripe one, but I can see that the pink and navy striped ones would be great too.
ReplyDeleteI love the 50mm wide elastic in the stripes navy and white or real and white gorgeous from poogle01@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteOoh so much prettiness! I love these pretty trims: http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p486/Vintage_White_and_Pink_Lace_-_9mm.html and http://www.missmaudesewing.co.nz/store/p328/Mokuba_Stretch_Frill_Organdy_-_15mm_wide.html
ReplyDeleteWhen I finally feel brave enough to sew underwear I think these would be the perfect additions!
I don´t have a good source for quality non-basic elastics so I'm drawn to those striped elastics

ReplyDeleteI am loving these : Liberty Fabric Buttons - Boxed Set, Poppy & Daisy
I can't resist the vintage buttons. A number of those buttons remind me of the pretty little buttons my grandma used to put on the cardigans she knitted for me when I was a wee tot.
ReplyDeleteReally love the retractable tape measures and everything else! The dots on the tape measure is so cute!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite sewing gadget is the Merchant & Mills Sewing Gauge, I use mine constantly and can't sew if it isn't close by.
ReplyDeleteYou had a pretty good week and surprised you are still looking very summery as I thought it would be getting a bit chilly where you are by now.
thanks for the giveaway! I love the mint vintage English flower buttons.
ReplyDeleteI've been after a wrist pin cushion for ages! Best sewing invention ever, I love these ones! I'm loving Me Made May. My photos seem to be getting worse (as my husband gets more and more fed up with taking them!) but I enjoy looking at what everyone else is making and wearing.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen such stunning elastic. Not normally one for elasticated tops (aesthetically), I might have to change my mind!
ReplyDeleteThe vintage metal Scottie dog pins for sure :)
ReplyDeleteLove those retractable measuring tapes, especially the purple floral. I already have a million tape measures, but my only retractable one broke recently (it no longer retracts). (ciaraxyerra@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteI love the selection of rubbins - my favourite is the cloud apple one. And the buttons - the black and white roses ones, very pretty and exactly what I would love to use for an Oslo cardigan
ReplyDeleteI love the magnetic wrist pin holder?
ReplyDeleteCool site! I love the "reds"extra sharp 8" tailor's shears from Merchant and Mills.

ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous things but the tulip pins are amazing! X
ReplyDeleteI love that wrist pin cushion too. So many stunning items, it's hard to choose.
ReplyDeleteEnchanted by all the vintage buttons, especially the translucent flower buttons, but so much else to like--the cloud grosgrain ribbon, a great pair of tailor's shears, a silicon thimble. I could go on and on. I look forward to seeing more posts of your Me Made May outfits, Jen. --Donna B.
ReplyDeleteI love the shell buttons - tree of hearts and all the vintage buttons - they bring back fond memories of my grandmothers button tin with all the glass buttons in it
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely in love with the magnetic pin cushion! How can it be so pretty?
ReplyDeleteLoving the buttons! Especially the balloon ones.
ReplyDeleteThose Liberty covered buttons are great.
