Some snaps from my Instagram during July...
I can't believe it's August already! We are officially on the countdown for moving countries (whose bright idea was that anyway?).
August 30 is fast approaching as is the date for my sewing machine to board a ship. I have 2.5 weeks left of sewing time and there is so much to sew and so many other things competing for my time, like packing, paper work, kitties, typing up Norwegian poems for David, planning our massive Europe trip (for which I do have a post coming!) and I'm trying to get ahead of myself so that there are interesting things to put on the ol' blog until the end of November when I am finally (hopefully!) reunited with my sewing machine.
Ugh, stressy McStress!

Hanging out with the Mont-ster...
Secret sewing - I love these vintage shell buttons with this beautiful vintage fabric.
An Indian summer in the middle of winter. The lavender is confused and has started to bloom.
My sewing supervisor asleep on the job - typical!
Panda feet!!
Trying to remove 'mothball smell' from a vintage cardigan using white vinegar. It didn't work.
Any other suggestions??
Big cat, little box.

It's so difficult to find time for sewing during those moments. I've just came back from 2 weeks out and I'm leaving next week again. Do your best and we'll find more time :) What countries are you visiting in Europe?
ReplyDeleteI hear cat litter is good for getting smells out of things. A Thrifty Mrs did a round up of methods at some point but I've forgotten most of the others! A google should find it :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck trying to get everything done in time. Can't wait to hear about your Europe trip as well (jealous!).
ReplyDeleteAs for the mothball smell I have heard you can store it in a sealed plastic bag with bicarb ... but I think it isn't suppose to touch the bicarb. I haven't tried it but it might be worth a go.
Whoa, you have a lot on your plate right now! I hope sewing acts as a stress reliever as opposed to stress inducer these last few weeks. I can't wait to see that dress with the buttons, the fabric looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteyou can spray with fabreze, or keep pinning to line even dry to blow it about and rewash. i have even used a few drops of lavender oil or fav. one and let it blow about.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting, the big day. If you need a place to stay in Antwerp on your big Europe trip, just let me know ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your final packing and your epic move! Keep us posted on instgram!!!
ReplyDeleteAbout the mothballs I had a crocheted blanket that stank of the stuff and a few days out in the sun worked a treat. Put the cardigan in a position that will get all day sun and bring it inside at night. Repeat for several days and voila.
ReplyDeleteNote - I washed said blanket the other day and it smelt of mothballs again when wet. Now that its dry again the smell has gone.
I am in the same situation about moving and trip! I should write you mail to ask where are you going, may be we will be in one time in one place%))
ReplyDeletePS. I am finishing my first circle skirt!%))
