Wedding Shoes...

Wedding Shoes

My ideal wedding shoe was white with a peeptoe, a bow on the tip, not a sling back and not made with satin. These shoes, as it turns out, are really hard to find.

After scouring the internet, and an incident that we won't discuss where I lost the perfect shoes, I finally gave in and went shoe shopping with Ellen and Astin.

I did find them, but the store we were in only had the display shoes left (and they were yucky). The store attendants were not the slightest bit phased with helping me though, and after making me call another store (they weren't going to call for me) and giving me the wrong product code for the shoe, we finally made a break through.
Another store had my shoe, in my size and it was the last in stock.

Since I was actually going to be going in the complete opposite direction to that store, Ellen and Astin offered to get them for me. I met up with Ellen for dinner a few weeks ago and she handed over the bag. I put them on as soon as I got home and they are perfect.

Thank you so much Ellen and Astin for picking up my wedding shoes, I love them :)

Now to practice walking in them...

Love Vintage...

David and I braved the cold cold wind (and nearly got blown away) on Saturday to attend the Sydney Love Vintage fair. Not only did I meet with the super lovely Candice DeVille (who gave me some killer hair and make up tips) but I finally found my perfect wedding band.

It's a 1920's, 18 carat white gold band with 5 diamonds and cost less than the price for what you would have paid for a 50's cotton dress there. No kidding.

I. Love. It.

I am already wearing it (in fact, I put it straight on as soon as we paid for it) and will not take it off until the night before we say 'I Do', and then it's staying on there forever and ever. It also fit perfectly, matched my engagement ring perfectly, and the lovely little old lady gave us $8 off. It was also in the first booth we browsed and the third ring I tried on.

It was meant to be I think.

Candice teaching me the art of putting on a false lash.
She warned me that these are addictive, and I believe her!

You can see a tiny peek of my wedding band here.

After my meeting with Candice, I am now in the process of building up my hair arsenal and hope to start wearing vintage hair on a daily basis soon and I am getting excited about doing my own wedding hair :) Now all I need is for my hair to grow!!

On a different note, sorry for being a bit patchy with my blog posting lately. The wedding is now less than 5 weeks away and a few other things have been occupying my spare time lately. If things work out, I'll let you know why soon.

Green Fingers...

25th September 2010 4

David and I have nearly finished getting the things we want for our wee courtyard garden - tomorrow it's off to the farmers market for strawberries to put in our hanging baskets and a lime tree.

After these photos were taken we headed to the garden centre up the hill from us and added two types of mint, two more tomato plants (called tumblin' toms) and planted two types of chilli and a parsley into the base around the lemon tree.

We no longer say we are going to sit in the courtyard any more, it's now become the garden and it really couldn't make us any happier. Also, our little plants have shot up over the past week due to the beautiful weather we have been having.

For a long time now I have been thinking of dedicating a separate blog to gluten free cooking, gardening and ways to make your life a little greener. I had initially planned to use this blog as the format for that, but decided that I actually preferred to keep them separate. I am now working on the content for that blog and will probably launch it after the wedding. But, I'll tell more as we get closer :)
