Bah Humbug!

Who doesn't love a bunch of fresh spring flowers? These are from David a few weeks ago...

Last week I found out that I hadn't been selected for a job that I was really really hoping to get. I did all three interviews and the psychometric testing and it took up so much of my time and head space. It was a very hard decision apparently, choosing between me and my opponent, so hard in fact that they couldn't actually tell me why they had chosen this other person over me. Needless to say, I was a wee bit upset
- it had become such a time consuming thing that all thoughts of the wedding were put after 'the job', and now my wedding is next weekend and I need to refocus. (NEXT WEEKEND!!).

I'm not unhappy at my current job, but unfortunately, its rather uninspiring and unchallenging. When we first came to Sydney that's really what I needed - my last year as an events manager was draining - but trust me when I say that I'm well and truly over that now!

I know that I'm an asset wherever I choose to work, and while I'm not so good at talking myself up, I know I am a fantastic employee. Now I just need to find my perfect job...

But, oh yes, I need to get married first...

  2. Sweet Jen, it's so good that you didn't get that job, because the right one for you (the perfect job) will be there for you soon. I know it's hard and frustrating, but you've worked really hard I reckon, so therefore, it seems only right that the job you get will be the perfect one!

All the best for your last minute plans, it'll be so lovely to be on that plane going back to NZ I bet!

  3. Sorry you didn't get that job but all interviews are great practice and the preparation is useful for self-reflection and getting you focused on what you want, what your strengths are etc, so think of it as part of the process of working towards your dream job.

But for now - wow! You're getting married next weekend! Wooooooo!

  7. Aw, Jen! That's a real bummer... Especially since it was such a long and drawn out interview process! :/ Here's hoping that something even better in the job-department will come your way very soon. :)

Also: best of luck with all the last minute things for your wedding next weekend!!! :D

  9. i know exactly how you feel! i moved at around the same time as you did and took the first job i found (norway is expensive and i needed the money). it is not a bad job, but i am more than overqualified for it. however, since i don't write norwegian that well (i can communicate perfectly, but i don't know any grammar..) it has proven really hard to find a job that i actually am qualified for... i keep my fingers crossed for you!

I'm sorry about the job... but hopefully it is because there is something better out there for you. I know it is still frustrating though!!

  12. Wow, next weekend? It seems like only yesterday you got here!

Job-hunting in this city is a bitch and a half, but keep on swimming and I'm sure you'll eventually find something perfect for you. In the meanwhile, kick back and enjoy that whole wedding thing (I hear it's a kinda important day for some couples)!
