The Time Has Come...

Hello Everyone,

15th dec 09 2

Well, the time has indeed come. The impatient planner in me can now set to work planning for next year. On Saturday, David and I found out that we will be moving to.......

Sydney, Australia!!!

David has been awarded a PHD scholarship for three years to study with the University of Sydney, and I'm packing my bags and going right along with him.

15th Dec 09 1

I can't tell you what a relief it is to know exactly where we will be going! We booked all our flights last night, and so now its very much real! We leave for Sydney on the 13th Feb, 2010.

15th Dec 09 3

Moving to a whole new country is a little mind boggling and I feel an urgent need to write everything down in a list! I'm a very big list person - I tend to find old lists in my bags and pockets all the time. Its comforting having a list.

I won't say that I wasn't a little dissapointed that we didn't end up going to Melbourne, but its only a hop skip and a jump away, and at this stage, we know four people in Sydney, which is four more than we knew in Melbourne.

15th dec 09 5

I guess what I was really looking forward to if we ended up in Melbourne was meeting some of the Melbourne bloggers. I've tried finding some in Sydney and have only found a handful. So, um, if you're in Sydney and would like to catch up/show me around, please feel free to get in touch. It will be nice to see a few friendly faces - I'm a little nervous about not having any friends in a huge city like Sydney.

So, off to Sydney it is! The date is really not all that far away...

ps) My dress is one from Vogue Vigilante, check them out, they have some gorgeous vintage pieces!

David and I are lucky to have Peonies growing in our garden, this is a rogue one who left the masses behind the house to live on its own. I took this photo the other day after it had stopped raining...

Wow, that's so exciting! Congrats to David on the PhD scholarship! I'm sure you'll make lots of new Sydney friends in no time :)
I just noticed you'll be in Sydney in time for valentine's day - I just thought that's a sweet detail, hehe..

Oh you look so lovely in that dress!

Sydney! My boyfriend and I are planning a move to Melbourne, but it's a whole year left here before he finishes studying!

Moving to a new city is so exciting, but yes, totally scary at first.

Yay for moving and new beginnings x

Congratulations!

I've been following your blog for ages and never commented before, but I figured I should now, since I've been at Sydney Uni for quite a few years now and will be doing honours there next year. It is a big city (and a big uni, for that matter), but it's a friendly one, and the campus is lovely. If you need advice/suggestions just say the word!

ps. cute dress!

Congratulations to David! You are going to love Sydney. It is one of my favourite places. I live on the Gold Coast so if you ever come up here for a visit I would be more then happy to show you around. And Melbourne is not far at all from Sydney. You'll be able to get really cheap airfares there from Sydney.

How exciting! You have to go to Surrey Hills in Sydney. I'm not a big fan of the city (I'm a country girl), but I fell in love with this area. Plenty of sweet little vintage shops and boutiques. I'm (only!) 6 hours away from there :)

I spend a fair bit of timee in Sydney with work & it's a fun place, lots to see and do so you won't be bored.

Sorry if I've gotten mixed up, (and you probably already know this) but I was sure you're in NZ.. a tip, our $1 coin is the same size as the NZ$2 coin, when we went to nz on holidays we kept giving the wrong money! So it might take a bit of getting used to :P

Living in Sydney is fantasic and I love it. I went to the University of New South Wales, not Sydney Uni, so I can't tell you much about that, but I know it's good.

Renting in Sydney at the moment is a BIG pain, so make sure you get here well beforehand to do inspections. Also try www.domain.com.au for on-line searches.

Sydney is fun and fabulous and I'm sure you'll have a great time here ^_^

You look so marvelous in that sweet dress! That little crochet detail is adorable.

And your peony is gorgeous.

This is the first time I've stopped by your blog, and had to pipe up too... I'm from Melbs and now live in Syds, and it's really great. My husband is from New Zealand too and we always say the best looking people are from NZ and they're all living here!

Anyways, I'm at veronicadarling.blogspot.com if you'd like to check out what's been happening in my Sydney world. It was boiling hot yesterday, and now freezing cold today! EEP!

Congratulations to you both =)

I only recently started following your blog, so how fortuitous that you should so soon be moving to my fair town =P

Do you know yet whereabouts you will be looking to live? If your partner is going to Uni I assume you will be looking to rent in the inner city, and Icy is right, rental costs are a bit ridiculous, so good luck!

If you'd like a chat or some advice my email is lizakith at gmail dot com

I'm a little late hearing the news, but that's so exciting! I can't imagine moving to a new country. :)

I don't know if you read Samantha's blog (http://matouenpeluche.typepad.com/matouenpeluche/), but she's in Sydney and she is such a sweetheart!
