August...

Can you believe this little dress still had its original shop tags on it when I got it?

3rd August 09

It's August already, and to be truthful, I am counting down the days until summer and the end of the year. I don't think it's my imagination, but it is definitely lighter in the mornings, and the weekends have been teasing us with beautiful sunny weather. It's now only one month until Spring is officially here - so bring on September I say!

I went to see Coco Avant Chanel last night, and I'm a bit sorry to say that I really didn't love it. I'm by no means a film critic, but I really don't think it did Coco any justice. The ending seemed rushed, there was maybe 2 minutes of the film dedicated at the end to showing her making actual garments and then all of a sudden she was at a fashion show and the film ended. Much of it was about her early life, and if that was what they wanted to focus on, then they really should have cut the final scenes and just had a little paragraph at the end explaining what happened when she actually built her fashion empire.

I don't want to put anyone off, I'm glad I saw it, but like I said, I was dissapointed. But then again, I am one of those people that can get caught up in the hype of a film and then be drastically let down when my exceedingly high expectations aren't met.

I did however, also see Ponyo which was gorgeous and one I recommend you see. I also saw Cheri, which I didn't have any expectations for, and quite enjoyed. The ending was strange, but the costumes and set were lovely.

Right, that's enough of the film critic in me babbling...

what a sweet outfit. I love that you paired a yellow bag with it. Its always so exciting to find a garment with the tags on...especially when its vintage:)

My friend went to see it last night who is so hard to please with films, and really liked it funnily enough! I think I will wait for the DVD though...

Please, enjoy cosying up for winter. It is totally the 'grass is always greener' syndrome; our London summer lasted about a week and now we have that boring inbetween weather and I just want snow and coats and scarves (and a new season! ;) x

I heard about the Chanel movie and the review I read was similar to your reaction. The critic said Audrey was a good actress for the part.

Such a cute dress! I love it when I find a good old piece with the tags still attached! :)

It's so hard for me to imagine it being winter where you are... it's HOT here! I'm looking forward to Fall. :)

What a charmingly fun dress! Red is one of my favourite hues both for clothing and accessories (and certainly lipstick :D).

I've been hearing luke warm reviews about that film too and am thinking I'll wait for it to come out on DVD, as I do want to see but don't want to feel the sting of the steep ticket prices these days if the movie is a let down. I appreciate your honest review, thanks!

And many thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, sweet dear.

Hope you have a brilliant and beautiful Monday!
♥ Jessica

I love your outfit, too bad about the film. It sucks when a movie doesn't live up to its hype.

Gorgeous find! Red is such an awesome color.

I'm the same way when it comes to films when my expectations are too high... but also, I rarely like autobiographies (unless it's done in a documentary style). I go in expecting bad... : )

I hate it when you get really excited for a film and it's disappointing. I haven't seen it yet, but I still plan on it.

Love the dress! It's always exciting when shop tags are still attached :)

I can't believe it's August already either! While you're anticipating summer, I'll be sad to see it go. We've had very few "proper" summer days here this year. It's been significantly cooler and very rainy :(

You should never tell your movie critic voice to be quiet! Thanks for the heads up! I want to see the Chanel movie as well, but I haven't gotten around to it, just like Marie Antoinette and several others...
Your outfits are adorable! Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi I just got here from ModCloth. Dropping in to say your blog is good and your style even better.

Ponyo is going to be great. Saw all of Miyazaki's movies and love em.

You? which one is your favorite?
