Vintage Coats and Cute Kitty Cats...

The only thing I dislike about vintage coats and jackets is that the arms are always slightly too short, which is the case with this jacket. But I do love it! It’s made from a beautiful heavy wool in a dark blue with red stitch detailing, and a red lining. It also has a fantastic military-esque feel about it and fits like a glove (with the exception of the shorter sleeves which wearing long gloves fixes in an instant).

Funny story – our wee kitty Mocha has taken to sitting on David’s pillow in the morning (early in the morning, before David has to get up, which is early during the week) and cleaning his hair. She’s quite loud about it too and we are unsure as to why – is it because she knows David has to get up so is helping him by saving him some time in the morning and cleaning his hair herself? Is it because she now thinks of him as her little massive kitten David who needs taking care of? Is she doing it because she knows he has to get up and she wants him up earlier so she gets fed sooner?

No matter what the reason, it’s pretty darn cute, and one of these days I’ll get a photo!

  5. My cat used to do the same thing to me, but he grew out of it! Maybe it is a kitten thing.

LOVE the jacket. I almost bought a vintage winter coat this past December and passed on it, and but now I really regret it.

  6. I completely understand about vintage coats being short in the arm! I've never found one long enough in that department. The one you have on is particularly darling though!

  7. I tend to find vintage cuts to be tight across my back, since I have short arms! I love the silhouette of this coat, just lovely.

And that is such a cute kitty quirk! I'm always amazed at their inner clocks.

  10. Looking at the various comments about I think you can rest assured that your coat is loved (I love it too :)

I think the shorter sleeves draw attention to your wrists -oh, in a good way I mean! The line of the wrist can be elegant, and the red gloves emphasise that. Hrm, I think that makes sense...Plus, you can wear bracelets with it if you so desire, which coats generally prevent.

  15. Gorgeous coat!

That's such a funny story about Mocha. You present some convincing ideas, I wonder what her real motives are. Hehe :)

I had a cat once who liked to lick photographs. Strange, right?

  19. I know just what you mean ... many of my vintage coats have weirdly short sleeves. But this amazing find is worth creating a sleeve-related work-around!

  20. You really have a talent for finding the best vintage coats! I don't mind the short sleeves myself, my biggest gripe is that vintage coats are 99% of the time too big or too long for a shortie like me! Yours is perfect though, I love the red collar!

& cats are just the cutest, aren't they. I'd like to think the first option is true :)

  22. I couldn't agree with you more! At first i thought it was just me but the more I talk to people about vintage coats, we all feel like we have freakishly long arms.lol.
As always, you look lovely! The coat certainly has a military look but you can pull it off!

  25. I kind of like the shorter sleeve feature of vintage coats, I just compensate with longer gloves. Looks like you're doing the same in your cute red gloves! P.S. that is very cute about the cat. Maybe it's a womanly time in her cycle when she would normally be birthing kittens and she'll stop doing it when the hormones are back to normal.
