This is my Joan Holloway dress! I liken it to the dress she wears below.

It’s woolen and lovely and warm and it comes with a matching jacket. I don’t think I’d wear the jacket with the dress though because I think it’s a little too matchy matchy. Speaking of Joan Holloway, I still haven’t finished season 1 of Mad Men. I’m about half way through and it just kind of fizzled out for me, but I do still plan to watch the rest of it!!
Last week was quite the eventful week work wise - our show finished on Saturday to sell out crowds. There were 10 shows all up, held in a theatre that seats around 480 people and almost all the nights were completely full!
This week is also going to be quite eventful too. Tomorrow, David and I celebrate our 4 year anniversary (wow, that is a long time – and funny story, we met at the show I’ve just finished!! I was backstage, he was an actor and the rest is history!!). I also turn the grand old age of 24 on Thursday (which I plan to take off work!) and my blog turns the smaller age of 1 (which I don’t plan to take off work).
The shop is humming along nicely, yesterday I bought a whole bunch of storage boxes and started sorting out my buttons, cotton, zips, buckles etc. I’m going to let you in on a little secret and tell you all that I am a very messy person!! I leave my stuff everywhere and for the past few months David has had to put up with my sewing bits and pieces being sprawled out all over the dining room table! Sorry Hun!! So yesterday, I decided that I really needed to get organised so that I can start properly planning out the items for my shop. I’m not completely finished, but it’s getting there.

I love the bow detail on the dress - and that coat is going to look wonderful with lots of different outfits, I know!
Oh, fantastic dress – can you tell us where it's from? Or is it top secret ;) I really like the jacket with it too, I kinda like the matchy-matchy at the moment. :) That's great with the shop, how exciting! And congratulations on all those big dates!
You have the most amazing little vintage dresses.
I'm super jealous of this one!

what a wonderful dress! and yes, i think you should wear the dress and the jacket together, at least on occasions such as opera or theatre. nobody is matchymatchy today anymore, so i think it would be very pretty and special!

That's such an adorable dress! I'm also quite a messy person, especially when working on a project (even if it's an incredibly long-term thing). Happy anniversary!! :)

Haha, I thought you looked just like Joan before I scrolled down and saw that was who you were channelling :) You are so lucky to be a redhead *sigh*...

Gorgeous dress! The color and fit are both terrific!
I just ran across your blog for the first time - I *love* your ability to wear retro/vintage silhouettes but make everything look so fresh and modern. I especially love this sweet dress.
(Is Joan Holloway from Mad Men? I've never seen the show, but I've seen so many bloggers who are inspired by the style that I may have to check it out.)
Hope that you had a great anniversary and have a wonderful birthday.
The Jane Holloway dress is amazing! I love the bow and the matching belt and the detailing! The coat is totally fabulous, too, even if it is a little matchy matchy. ;)
So glad to see you back again!
That dress is gorgeous--I love the color!
Good luck getting all your sewing stuff organized! :) I need to get mine tidied up too; right now it's competing for space with the old tv, rabbit cage, and scuba equipment. lol! Now it's migrated out into the dining room... oh dear! :p I swear notions and embellishment magically multiply! haha!
Goodness what a beautiful dress! I love it :)
What a gorgeous dress! Wow!
I LOOOVE your Mad Men outfit... ahh!
