I’m not really one that follows the cat walk trends – I couldn’t really care less at the end of the day. I draw my inspiration from my fellow fashion bloggers and everyday people I see on the street (I love people watching, as creepy as that sounds!! The fashion show on Saturday was a great one for doing just that!!).
I’ve been a member of wardrobe_remix for a few months now and I love it - there are so many very well dressed people out there to draw inspiration from. I do post regularly to the group as well and sometimes my outfits are hits and other times total misses, which is completely fine with me. What I love about it is that it pushes me to try out different things – if I think back to a few years ago I was petrified to even try on a dress or wear a skirt!! Now I love them both as much as I love my trusty, comfortable jeans.
At the end of the day I hope I inspire at least one person as much as so many people inspire me.

Wardrobe_remix is my favorite online fashion community--they really don't care about hype there! I'm with you on trends, I will buy trendy items but only if I like them for them, not for the fact that they are popular!

i think at this point almost anything is "in," as i think it's more about self-expression and the person wearing the clothes.

As for that aweful international headline don't stress yourself over it. It seemed unavoidable so you shouldn't harbour any blame on yourself. If it is some consolation my flatmates on their daily BBC stop just laughed a bit and found the humour in it all. It didn't faze them a bit.

I was the same way a few years ago - I only admired dresses & skirts from afar, hardly ever wearing them. While I still love a great pair of pants or jeans, most days I feel a little bit better if my outfit includes a dress or skirt.
i love the color palette here! red tights, i'm still easing into the red lipstick...i don't think i can pull off red tights yet, but you do it perfectly!

I've had a similar transformation in my style. A few years ago, I would only wear heels or a dress for a wedding. My everyday uniform was jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops or sneakers.
Ooh - black/white/red is such a winning combination. I think I'll take a leaf from your book today for my outfit. :)
And - you inspire me with your wardrobe selections all the time!
It's a wonderful thing getting inspired by others trying out new things - I am the same. Just two years ago, maybe, I was scared of wearing certain clothes, but now I don't think about that at all.

Whatever brand name I wrote in my post is wrong. I was trying to go from memory when I wrote it and I was way off and never corrected the post. And it looks different on me because mine is a couple sizes too small so the waistband was sitting like, right under my boobs.

I agree, the internet can be such a great validation and inspiration to try new things, even if you aren't physically seeing people wear them around you.

I love Wardrobe Remix for that reason! It also makes me not despair when I wear an outfit I think is super special and awesome and don't hear one compliment on it all day-- I know the fellow online fashion enthusiasts will care and it wasn't an outfit worn in vain! Though when you say your outfits are "miss" I hope you don't mean people leave unkind comments because you don't deserve that at all!!
