This is what I wore to the wedding on the weekend – this is one of my favourite vintage dresses ever. The clutch is one I thrifted a while back, it’s basically an Oroton but without the brand that comes with them – sorry I didn’t take a close up picture of it, I will next time I use it!

Saturday morning was freezing, I already had my outfit planned for the wedding but was feeling the need to go and buy white stockings because I couldn’t handle the cold without them. But David and I went to the farmers market first for galettes and hot chocolate and by the time we had finished the weather had started to get better and by the time it came to leave for the wedding it was beautiful, sunny and warm.

I do have one small gripe about the planning of the wedding, I organise and run events for a living so when an event isn’t run smoothly I get a tad frustrated by it. The wedding took place on a beach, there were sand dunes to climb over before you got to the beach and there were supposed to be signs telling everyone where to go. There were no signs and this left a tribe of people clambering over sand dunes back and forth about three times trying to figure out where the wedding was. We were all so worried that the bride had already arrived at the place they were to be wed and there would be no one there. The bride was an hour late and when she got there we all ended up just following her to where she was getting married.

I really don’t do well with events that aren’t organised, even a casual event needs some organisation. My events brain kicks in and I can immediately pick out all the things that need to be fixed and all the things that should have been thought of before the day. But once we got to where we were supposed to be the wedding was lovely, the bride was in a bright forest green and gold gown and looked lovely.

My over locker arrived on Friday too, it comes with its very own carry bag and I’m so excited, I want to jump right in and start using it but I still haven’t got my sewing machine back – sad face! I won’t have anytime to do any sewing for a good few weeks now which is annoying, I have so many things I want to get making!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend,

Xx

  1. Love this! And I'm the same with planning and organisation - it frustrates me when things aren't well-thought-out. We went to a wedding recently where the church and reception venue were about two hours' drive apart. Madness.

  2. As a former event planner myself, I know how you feel. What also bugs me is the "Maybe Attending" option on Facebook... I used it to invite people to a dinner out for my birthday and now I'm going to have to send a reminder email telling people that they either need to swap to attending or not attending so I can get an accurate gauge of numbers.

  3. That kinda thing drive me crazy too - Andy worked as an event coordinator so we can't help but notice all the little things they just should have thought through better. That dress is just stunning, I can see why it's your favourite!!!

  4. teehee, you make me laugh, my partner is an event manager too and if we go out to ANY event or show he's always scoping it out and making comments under his breath like 'they haven't planned for traffic flow AT ALL!'
I am NOT a planner or organiser so I just think its hilarious :o)

  5. The lack of organizing would bother me too... especially on what is usually one of the biggest days of a girl's/couple's life!

That being said...your dress is amazing, and the perfect wedding outfit. Absolutely perfect!

  7. OH MY GOSH. That is one amazing dress. Its the most beautiful dress i've seen in a while. Such a lucky find and you look gorgeous in it too!

I'm like that also, get fustrated when events arent planned properly. Just a waste of my time really :(

Btw, will you be at all the orientation events? I'll probably (finally) see you around anyway :)

  10. beautiful dress - perfect for a wedding!

I'm *usually* with you on the organisation - I am very organised. But weddings, I dunno. The thing that most puts me off getting married is the thought of having to organise the wedding. I sometimes do (research) events and conferences for work, and I never actually enjoy them as a participant, because i'm always focused on keeping everything running smoothly. I know I'd be the same if I had a super organised wedding, I would be stressing over details and not enjoying myself. So with weddings and birthdays i think, either get someone else to do the organising, or just ignore it and enjoy yourself! Does that make sense?

  11. Love the dress! It really suits you.
Wow, that wedding sounds quite awful. It annoys me too when people don't take the time to properly plan events and think everything through. Oh well...
The serger is thrilling, though! I don't have any time for sewing right now either. It's terribly sad.

  18. You look so lovely in your dress. One of the rules for a wedding party is not to look better than the bride....Did you ?
You are lucky to have an overlock machine. I am "only" working with a sewing machine.
